Outside the US, public opinion surveys suggest that most people would prefer a Barack Obama victory in the American presidential election. But Georgia is different - and it's not just because of John McCain's remarkable display of traditional dancing skills and wine-bibbing prowess when he visited this country a couple of years ago. Find out why here. The photo (by Ana Iaseshvili) shows Georgia's new Minister for Refugees making his preferences clear.

McCain for Georgia

Hi,
I live in Svaneti - I'm a Canadian and the English teacher of all the schoolchildren in Ushguli. I spent winter 2007/8 there, and will soon return (late November 2008) for another winter of English teaching. My photographic blog, from around the world but especially focusing on Georgia and Svaneti, is:

Should be an interesting winter up there, what with US elections and their efect on the world and possible further Russian involvement in Georgia! But I've been to Svaneti so many times over the last 8 years of living in Georgia that I think I'm ready for anything.
