Irakli's Return - A Georgian Drama, Part 3
Thousands of people have been demonstrating outside the Georgian parliament in Tbilisi for the past few days, demanding the resignation of President Mikheil Saakashvili. But the man who sparked the protests with his sensational allegations against the Georgian president back in September - the tough-talking former Georgian defence minister Irakli Okruashvili - was nowhere in sight. He had fled to Germany after admitting he was a rather bad lad who had abused his ministerial position to enrich himself, and retracting his allegations against Saakashvili. But he didn't maintain his silence for long. On the fourth day of the protests, Okruashvili made an unexpected and dramatic reappearance in a late-night television interview from Munich. Indeed confusing. Nice reporting though- hopefully in time this will all make sense. In the meantime, I guess all we can do is keep watching...
